CONTENT AND LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Personalised nutrition is entering an exciting era, with novel technologies allowing us to collect data at home via mobile apps and wearable monitors on hundreds of thousands of people, a scale unimaginable ten years ago. In parallel, personalised nutrition commercial offerings have exploded. As the latest nutrition trend, it is no surprise that debate over its value has also grown. This webinar will explore the current evidence on personalised dietary approaches and how they may fit into wider population-based guidelines.

Research shows the healthfulness of a diet depends on who, how and why they are eating it, and what they are doing at that moment. This is why we see huge differences in how people respond to the same foods and dietary interventions. It also underpins the argument for personalised, rather than ‘general’ nutrition alongside the alarming increase in diet-related disease, despite population-based dietary guidelines.

But do personalised nutrition approaches outperform population-based guidance? Which features should we personalise? Does personalised advice need to exclude population-based advice? And what’s next for personalised nutrition?

In this webinar, Dr Sarah Berry, will share the very latest in the area of personalised nutrition and discuss where it sits alongside our well-trodden population-based dietary guidelines.

We’ll cover:

  • What we can personalise
  • The variability in responses between and within individuals
  • The efficacy of personalised dietary approaches
  • How personalised nutrition can work in harmony with existing dietary guidelines

CPD CERTIFICATE & LEARNING MATERIALS

This webinar is approved for CPD by the AfN

Personalised nutrition is an area of emerging development and therefore likely to be a topic of interest to registrants and their clients/employers. It is positive to see that the content will make it clear that personalised nutrition should not be seen as a replacement of population – based guidelines, but something that can sit harmoniously with this and complement it. It should however be recognised that the speaker and their research is directly and closely linked to a commercial company. Therefore it is essential that it is made clear the source of all data presented, its limitations and that the content is delivered in a manner that is not  promotional of a product/service.
