CONTENT AND LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Adopting plant-rich diets is one of the most powerful steps patients can take to improve cardiometabolic health, reduce cancer risk and lower their environmental footprint. However, many struggle with practical implementation. Healthcare professionals are frequently asked complex questions about nutritional adequacy, fortified foods and the role of plant-based alternatives.
This webinar will explore the evidence underpinning plant-rich dietary patterns, with a focus on plant-based alternatives and food fortification. The session will address common nutritional concerns and provide practical, realistic strategies to support sustainable dietary change. Attendees will gain clear, evidence-based guidance to confidently support people transitioning to a healthy, balanced and culturally appropriate plant-rich pattern of eating.
Plant-rich eating is not about restriction, but strategic inclusion. This session will examine how plant-based alternatives and fortified foods can make dietary change nutritionally robust and achievable. It will explore whether plant-rich diets can meet nutritional requirements at every stage of life, the role fortified foods play in ensuring adequacy, and how plant-based alternatives should be considered – as ultra-processed and unhealthy, or as strategic tools to support dietary transition and improve public health.
This webinar will cover:
- The evidence base underpinning plant-rich dietary patterns
- The nutritional role and health impact of plant-based alternatives
- The role of fortified foods in supporting nutritional adequacy
- Key nutrients of focus, including vitamin B12, iodine, calcium, iron and omega-3 fatty acids
