CONTENT AND LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Should we be recommending a lower carbohydrate diet to people with type 2 diabetes?

It’s a question that’s been the subject of debate in the nutrition and dietetic community for years. As a result of inconsistent advice surrounding the topic, the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN) published an important report in May 2021 detailing the evidence for lower carb diets for adults with Type 2 Diabetes.

We’re extremely lucky to be joined by Douglas Twenefour RD to discuss the report. Douglas is co-chair of the SACN joint working group on lower carb diets for adults with type 2 diabetes and Deputy Head of Care at Diabetes UK.

The webinar will cover:
  • The evidence assessed in the SACN report
  • How the evidence informed recommendations
  • How the recommendations translate to practice
