Communication strategies for the Eatwell Guide

Tai Ibitoye

Tuesday 12 September 2023 20:00–21:00 BST

Season 4

CONTENT AND LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

There has been a lot of discussion on the UK Eatwell Guide among dietitians, nutritionists and other clinicians with regards to its adherence and suitability for the general public. There’s evidence to suggest that only 0.1% of the population meet the recommendation set out in the Eatwell Guide. Though there are many factors that may contribute to this, one factor considered is the way it is communicated to the public.

In this Journal Club session, we’ll discuss a recently published rapid review exploring the evidence on communication techniques of food-based guidelines and how this can be implemented in communication strategies for the Eatwell Guide.

This session covers:

  • Strengths & limitations of a rapid review
  • Key themes relating to the communication of dietary guidelines
  • Overcoming barriers to following the Eatwell Guide
  • Ways to improve communication skills when sharing healthy eating advice and information in practice
