A strict gluten-free diet is the only treatment available to manage coeliac disease – and if it’s not followed, the disease can lead to nutritional deficiencies and other complications. But living gluten-free can be challenging for patients. This session is designed to help you to support patients to overcome barriers and thrive on a gluten-free diet.

Coeliac disease affects at least one in 100 people in the UK and in Europe, yet only about 30% of people with the condition are currently clinically diagnosed.
 
In this MyNutriKitchen session, we’re joined by award-winning specialist coeliac dietitian Cristian Costas Batlle, who will be sharing simple, practical advice to offer to patients following a gluten-free diet. 
 
The session will cover:
• How we can make gluten-free cooking easier
• How we can make gluten-free meals more nutritionally balanced
• Helpful gluten-free swaps to diversify the diet
 
You’ll be inspired to support your patients and clients to prepare quick and nutritious gluten-free meals with basic kitchen utensils and basic cooking skills. There’s also the chance to put your questions to Cristian in an extended Q&A session.

Cristian Costas Batlle
Gastroenterology Dietitian 

Cristian Costas Batlle is a Gastroenterology Dietitian specialising in coeliac disease. He runs a dietetic-led coeliac service in the NHS and also works in private practice. In 2020, he was awarded with the GUTS UK and Dr Falk Dietitian recognition award for improving care in gastroenterology. In 2021, he was a double CN Award winner – as Clinical Nutrition Professional of the Year and Social Media Personality of the Year – for his work in coeliac disease.
