LNCS are approved as safe by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)/World Health Organization (WHO) Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA), along with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other food safety bodies globally. Yet, concerns around the safety and use of them continues amongst patients and healthcare professionals alike.
For decades, LNCS have been used as a valuable approach for patients with specific health conditions, such as diabetes or obesity, but what does the latest evidence show and where can healthcare professionals find reliable information on LNCS?
In this roundtable discussion, we’ll be joined by leading experts in nutrition and food science to discuss common concerns surrounding LNCS, and answer any questions you may have.
We’ll cover:
- The safety of LNCS
- LNCS in relation to weight control, sweet taste and appetite
- Recommendations on LNCS use
- Evidence from individual studies and meta-analyses, and why different conclusions have been drawn
