CONTENT AND LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The much-anticipated 300+ page National Food Strategy was published in July 2021. It makes 14 key recommendations to the UK government across a wide range of food and nutrition issues, from making diets healthier to food waste to sustainability. It also calls for expanding the role of the Food Standards Agency.

In the first of a two-part series, this webinar provides an overview of the Strategy.

Jenny works across the Jamie Oliver Group to implement nutrition standards. She is particularly passionate about improving the food environment through policy change. Jenny is part of the Expert Advisory Group for Bite Back 2030, a youth-led movement calling for a food system that puts children’s health first. Jenny was previously Campaign Manager at Action on Sugar and developed MEND (child weight management) programmes, upskilling health professionals internationally to deliver these.

Jenny has recently joined the Global Food Security Programme’s Strategic Advisory Board.

Executive Director, The Food Foundation

Anna is Chief Independent Adviser to Henry Dimbleby for the development of the National Food Strategy. She joined the Food Foundation as its first Executive Director at the beginning of June 2015, after five years at the Department for International Development. At DFID, Anna led the policy team on nutrition and supported the delivery of the UK’s global commitments to tackle undernutrition. In 2014 she was awarded an OBE for her work to address the global burden of undernutrition.
