CONTENT AND LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Incretin-based therapies, commonly referred to as GLP-1 therapies, are transforming how we support people living with overweight and obesity, and nutrition guidance is racing to keep up. These medications effectively suppress appetite, but the resulting drop in food volume creates a real risk of malnutrition, muscle loss, and gastrointestinal side effects, leaving many practitioners without clear, practical guidance on how to support patients through therapy.

In this webinar, we will explore the evolving GLP-1 treatment landscape and the evidence-based case for where plant-based nutrition fits in. Soraya Pineda will open with an update on current trends in incretin-based therapies and the rationale for considering plant-based approaches in weight management, highlighting both what the evidence currently supports and where gaps remain.

Anna-Lena Klapp will then bridge the gap between medication and everyday dietary practice, exploring how a plant-forward framework can help protect against malnutrition and muscle loss within a reduced “nutritional budget,” ease common GI side effects, and support long-term metabolic health. She will introduce the new ProVeg GLP-1 Nutrition Guide, giving practitioners a practical, ready-to-use tool for patient consultations.

We’ll cover:

  • The key trends shaping the incretin-based therapy landscape
  • The rationale for considering plant-based nutrition alongside incretin-based therapies, and the current evidence base for this approach
  • How a plant-forward framework can help meet protein, fibre and micronutrient needs within a reduced caloric intake
  • Common GI side effects of GLP-1 therapy and the dietary factors that may help relieve them
  • Practical tools, including the new ProVeg GLP-1 Nutrition Guide, to support patient consultations
